2025 Election Info
AFMTE is the only membership organization dedicated to shaping the future of massage therapy education. Its collective vision and voice provide vital support and guidance.
The Leadership Development Committee (LDC) is charged with finding strong candidates to serve the Alliance as Board members and members of the LDC. Service to the Alliance gives back to the massage therapy community and contributes to your own personal and professional development.
To be eligible for a position, you—or the organization you represent—must be an Alliance member in good standing. Members in all categories (School, Continuing Education Provider, Teacher, Allied, or Supporter) are invited to apply.
The deadline for 2025 applications for BOD and LDC openings is March 28, 2025.
Board of Directors Openings
This year there are eight members of the Board, and one member has indicated that they will not seek re-election. Since the board can consist of 7-10 members, there will be a minimum of three vacant seats.

Directors Re-Applying
Each year, a certain number of Board members’ terms conclude. Sometimes the incumbent decides to apply for another term, and sometimes the seat is vacated.
This year, Nathan Nordstrom, Deborah Wade, Donna Sarvello, and MK Brennan have terms that will end September 2025. As this is the end of MK’s second term, she will be leaving the board. The other three individuals have indicated that they wish to re-apply for a position on the Board slate.
Leadership Development Committee Openings
Additionally, the LDC members are elected to serve. The four current members of the committee along with the Board Liaison/Interim Chair were appointed when there were openings in between the election timeframe.
The LDC serves as the nominating committee for the Board slate annually and helps fill committee positions throughout the year.
